Flowers, who doesn't love flowers?

Between the sizes, shapes, colors and textures there are more than we can even imagine...I wish I could grow them all!

As a small-scale flower farmer, I'm mostly doing this on my own, working hard to grow the highest quality blooms so my customers can experience the same beauty that I'm lucky enough to grow.  Planning, nurturing, and sharing these flowers has taught me to slow down and appreciate even the smallest victories - and yes, the biggest challenges, too.  It's a peaceful, grounded season of life for me, even if it's also tough, messy, and sweaty.  But I wouldn't have it any other way.

People often ask how my passion for flower farming began, especially since it seems like I jumped in without hesitation.  Well, I did take the leap, but the idea had been growing for years.  My first encounter with flower farming happened when I lived in Traverse City, MI, and that's where the seed was planted.  I didn't act on it right away, but it stayed with me until the right time came.  That time arrived five years later when I moved back to the home I grew up in, and suddenly, I had the space I needed to give it a shot.  So, I sowed 2,500 seeds and planted 30 dahlias just to see what I could grow.  The birds ate the seeds, but I still ended up with 20 dahlias - and that was enough to get me hooked.

The following 10 months were filled with learning, planning, and dreaming.  After countless hours of hard work - blood, sweat and tears -

I created Bear Flower Farm.

I hope to give you as much beauty and as many memorable experiences as possible!

Bloom where you are planted?

Plant where you are blooming?

After my kids left the house, I found myself moving around, searching for a place to settle and truly grow.  Each new temporary home was filled with as many flowerpots as I could gather.

It's amazing how flowers - or even a new destination - can help you discover who you really are.  So, whether you've already planted your roots or you're still on your journey,

remember to keep growing!
